  • Fabrics made of fiberglass do not rot, mildew, or degrade. Except for hydrofluoric and phosphoric acids, they are resistant to most acids.
  • The coefficient of thermal expansion of fiberglass fabrics is low, and their thermal conductivity is very high. Asbestos or organic fibers do not dissipate heat as quickly as glass textiles do.
  • Stretch and shrink are not an issue with fiberglass fabrics. The break in nominal elongation is 3–4%. 5.4 by 10.6 cm/cm/°C is the average linear thermal expansion coefficient of “E” glass.

  • When compared to synthetic and natural fiber fabrics, fiberglass fabrics are less expensive.

  • The strength-to-weight ratio of fiberglass yarn is high. Steel wire is just half as robust as fiberglass yarn.
